A year ago, representatives from CASEL, The Collaborative for Academic, Social, Emotional Learning, and Baltimore City Schools shared data from CASEL's then-recent social and emotional landscape analysis of City Schools. We learned about the anticipated partners and programs to support student needs, support systems and SEL curriculum, and development of school-based and district-level staff. Join us to learn about the implementation of those programs and additional programs to support student wholeness in the district.
On May 1, 2024, Baltimore City Public Schools will submit their full local implementation plan for the Kirwan Blueprint for Maryland Future to both the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) and the Accountability and Implementation Board (AIB). Join the Education Funders and Workforce Development Affinity Groups for an update on Career and Technical Education (CTE) in Baltimore. We are pleased to once again host Dr. Rachel Pfeifer, Executive Director of College and Career Readiness of Baltimore City Schools, and Kumasi Vines, Director of Career Readiness, who will share how CTE instruction has shifted during the pandemic and to share the vision and draft 4-year plan for moving forward.
The Baltimore City Early Care and Education Landscape Analysis was commissioned by the Baltimore City Early Childhood Advisory Council (ECAC) and funded by a grant from the Maryland State Department of Education through the Family League of Baltimore City. Additional funding from members of the Prenatal to Five Impact Collaborative at Maryland Philanthropy Network supported editing and design. The Fund for Educational Excellence and the Family League of Baltimore provided project coordination, leadership, and guidance throughout.
The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) received a generous donation of $5 million from the Sherman Family Foundation. The gift is intended to help the BSO introduce more children and young people to symphonic music, and will support the orchestra's various outreach initiatives to this end.
The 437th Maryland State Legislative session began on January 11, 2017. Join us for a panel presentation from state-wide children/education advocacy groups as they share their legislative agendas and strategies for this session.
