The Horizon Foundation has announced three new members to its board of trustees: Jonathan Ilsong Ahn, Esq., an attorney and Korean American community leader; Catherine Hamel, president of Gilchrist Hospice Care; and Brian Hepburn, MD, executive director of the National Maryland Philanthropy Network of State Mental Health Program Directors.
The Horizon Foundation awarded more than $1 million in grants in 2017 to community programs advancing the mission to improve health and wellness for people who live or work in Howard County, Md. The grants address community needs and target the Foundation’s strategic priorities to promote healthy lifestyles and increase access to quality, affordable health care.

Join nonprofit leaders, board members, staff members, volunteers, and people interested in learning more about nonprofits at the 2021 Frederick Nonprofit Summit! Keynote speaker Vu Le is a nationally recognized blogger of NonprofitAF. His talk will stretch current practices in the nonprofit sector and explore how to move toward the future. We provide space for our members to connect, learn and share together on how to effectively address racial equity in their work as philanthropy-serving organizations (PSOs), and works to share our members’ learnings with the broader philanthropy field. As part of these efforts, we are pleased to share case stories from our members about their racial equity work.

Ms. Abrams will describe the main financial management issues currently facing nonprofits, various approaches to developing a budget, ways to tell the story of your work through numbers, and what funders are looking for in your budget. There will also be time to have your specific questions and concerns answered. You’ll leave with practical tips and resources for further learning about budgeting and nonprofit financial management.
