Maryland Philanthropy Network Launches Search for President and CEO

Maryland Philanthropy Network (MPN) has announced that President Celeste Amato will leave the organization after 8 years of service. The Board of Directors has initiated a search for a new executive and has engaged the services of Sterling Martin Associates to support the selection and transition process.
Celeste joined MPN in 2012 after 18 years invested in public service and issues including housing, economic development, public works, and environmental initiatives. She is returning to public service as Chief of Staff to incoming Baltimore City Comptroller Bill Henry.

“MPN plays a unique role in Maryland’s social sector, and I have been grateful for the opportunity to expand MPN’s leadership role as a partner and voice on issues vital to Baltimore and communities across our state,” said Celeste.

She has been instrumental in refining MPN’s mission and values, work that recently culminated in the organization’s renaming. Celeste has guided MPN toward developing services and programs that serve its statewide membership base, and she’s played a lead role in the growth of its fiscal hosting program. Across all of her work, Celeste has embodied MPN’s commitment to deepening our community's understanding of racism and the actions we can take individually and collectively to recognize and disrupt bias, challenge our own norms and practices, and support other organizations in doing the same.

“Celeste has been a leader that propelled the organization forward in ways that left us uniquely prepared to address the central challenges and opportunities facing philanthropy today,” said Carmel Roques, Board Chair.

As we continue the search for our next President and CEO, Elisabeth Hyleck will serve as Acting President. You can reach Elisabeth at or at 410-727-1205 x 1211.
