Please join Maryland Philanthropy Network’s Health Funders Affinity Group and Affinity Group on Aging for our third discussion about community-based programs supported by Total Cost of Care resources. Happening during National Diabetes Awareness Month, this program will provide an overview of two of the six partnership initiatives funded through the Regional Partnership Catalyst Program and developed to address the growing diabetes epidemic in Maryland. MPN members and partners will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn about opportunities to support the efforts in a successful diabetes campaign to reduce diabetes.
Maryland Philanthropy Network members are invited to join representatives from B’more Invested, InFusion Community Grants, Youth as Resources, and other participatory grantmakers for an engaging discussion about what they are learning, especially about decision-making structures, coaching, compensation, and the power of allocating resources that directly impact their neighbors and peers. We’ll also discuss how the Ground Root Collective is collaborating on efforts to strengthen the social sector by supporting applicants and grantees before, during, and after grant cycles. If you are curious about or have joined in participatory grantmaking, this is time to dig in and explore this practice and the implications of being more participatory!
Foundations and nonprofits create more resilient and impactful change when their strategies are shaped by the communities most harmed by inequities. The COVID-19 pandemic taught us invaluable lessons about the importance of community listening and nimble response. In the face of the social sector's recent turmoil, re-applying and building upon those lessons is more urgent than ever. This virtual session will explore how to carry forward best practices from the pandemic to meet today’s challenges. We’ll share strategies–including timely use cases–for responding to shifting community needs. Fellow funders and Listen4Good, a subject matter expert, will share about their successes, challenges, and best practices for centering community voice in grantmaking.
