The Funders Network (TFN) will host its 25th Anniversary Conference: Be Bold Together in Baltimore. TFN is a robust network of funders engaged in a broad spectrum of philanthropic work across North America, from small, rural community organizations to large urban foundations. Their Baltimore gathering will bring together place-based, regional and national funders to deepen their learning, share their strategies and broaden their professional networks. Community Health Workers, Home Health Aides, Personal Care Attendants, and Nursing Assistants are among the direct care workers on the front lines of the Pandemic. COVID-19 spotlighted both an incentive towards accelerating the delivery of care directly in communities and the inequities experienced by direct care and community health workers. During this program, we will have a discussion with David Rodwin of the Public Justice Center and the Maryland Regional Direct Services Collaborative, Dr. Chidinma Ibe, of the Johns Hopkins Schools of Medicine and Public Health. We will learn from our speakers how we can support, advocate, and sustain community health workers and direct home care programs to meet the increasing need to change the delivery of healthcare from institution-based to the community.

In last month’s Member Memo, I emphasized a core belief that continues to guide our work: meaningful, lasting impact in our communities depends on collaboration. No single organization can address today’s complex challenges alone. A perfect example of this belief in action took place earlier this month when we partnered with Exponent Philanthropy to host a Lean Funder Regional Gathering at our office in Baltimore.
