Maryland Philanthropy Network’s Health Funders Affinity Group is pleased to host Deputy Secretary Alyssa Lord for a conversation on her efforts to work collaboratively across local, city, state, and federal public and private sectors to improve the implementation of care coordination services by establishing and expanding community behavioral health programs. She will speak about Maryland Department of Health (MDH) initiatives supporting suicide prevention, and MDH’s campaign to amplify awareness of substance use disorders and promote evidence-based treatments by supporting communities and professionals who make recovery possible.

The Collaborative is a group of private and public funders committed to advancing equity, job quality and systems change efforts that lead to family-sustaining wages, strengthened communities and a vibrant local economy. BWFC members actively fund workforce development, are willing to co-invest, are committed to tracking outcomes and sharing investment data, and work together to improve workforce systems.

Join Maryland Philanthropy Network for a virtual conversation to learn about the recovery effort over the past two months including an update from the Governor's Office and on the philanthropic response from the three established funds - Maryland Tough Baltimore Strong Key Bridge Fund at the Baltimore Community Foundation, the City of Baltimore’s Key Bridge Emergency Response Fund, and the Bridging the Gap Fund of United Way of Central Maryland. The Annie E. Casey Foundation is saddened to share that Patrice Cromwell, vice president of the Foundation’s Center for Economic Opportunity, passed away on Aug. 27, 2024, after a long illness. Cromwell, who spent nearly 20 years at the Foundation, led its investments to improve financial stability and educational and economic prospects for children, young people and families.

Baltimore Community Foundation has awarded a $545,000 grant to the Baltimore Museum of Industry, providing critical early support for the development of a major exhibition memorializing the victims and impact of the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse. This lead gift will jumpstart the museum's fundraising campaign and underwrite a significant portion of the exhibition’s development, allowing the museum to move forward with confidence.
