Member Sponsored Briefing: Evaluating a Community-Led, Place-Based Collaborative for Health

Members of Maryland Philanthropy Network are invited to participate in a roundtable discussion focused on a community-led, place-based strategy implemented in Baltimore. This funder briefing will highlight an innovative approach to integrating neighborhood revitalization with community health outcomes. Attendees will engage with representatives from a diverse coalition, including a funder, community quarterback, family services partner, and evaluator. 

Speakers include:  

• Anne Allen, Senior Strategy and Evaluation, The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation  

• Elvis Guzman, Program Officer, The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation  

• Aaron Kaufman, Director of Community Projects, Central Baltimore Partnership 

• Subria Brown, Senior Projects Manager, Urban Strategies, Inc. 

• Mina Addo, Research Associate, MDRC  

Together, they will share valuable insights into their collaborative efforts, as well as challenges faced in this work, such as capacity building, equity intentions, and the development of evaluation strategies that prioritize not just individual outcomes, but also neighborhood infrastructure and long-term health equity.  

Join fellow funders to explore how this partnership addresses the needs of historically underserved neighborhoods by improving access to healthcare, nutritious food, and youth development opportunities. Members interested in place-based strategies that link health, community development, and systemic change are encouraged to attend. This event will highlight the role of collective action in fostering a culture of health and driving sustainable change in Baltimore and Maryland neighborhoods.
