Maryland Philanthropy Network’s 2025 Aging Innovations Summit provides an opportunity to network with peers, celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Older Americans Act, and express appreciation for the dedication and commitment to those working in the field of aging. 

This year's theme,The Economics of Aging, will delve into the immeasurable value older adults hold as employees, volunteers, consumers, and leaders. The agenda will include the Maryland Department of Aging's Secretary Carmel Roques, Maryland Comptroller Brooke Lierman, and Maryland Department of Commerce's Secretary Harry Coker, Jr. They will focus on the challenges and opportunities of the Longevity Economy and the need for a multisector approach to make Maryland longevity-ready. Additionally, Baltimore City Council President Zeke Cohen will share his efforts and advocacy priorities for older adults’ policies at the City and State level. 

We are pleased to have Peter Abadir, MD, Associate Professor of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine with a joint appointment in the School of Engineering, as our distinguished keynote speaker.   Dr. Abadir’s research interests include the development of new technologies that will improve the health and well-being of older adults. He has been recognized by the Johns Hopkins Department of Medicine with the W. Leigh Thompson Excellence in Research Award, is the co-director of the new Gerotech Incubator Program, and is the co-principal investigator of the Johns Hopkins Artificial Intelligence and Technology Collaboratory.  

We’ll finish with an uplifting creative arts performance by Encore Creativity for Older Adults’ Chorale (Joshua Vickery, Chief Executive Officer), uniting our voices in celebrating the 60th year of the Older Americans Act signing and the often-unreported contributions from older adults! 

Continental Breakfast and Lunch will be served.

This event is for members of Maryland Philanthropy Network, the Maryland Aging Innovations Group, and invited guests. 

 

Venue and Parking

This year's event will take place once again at the Vollmer Center at Cylburn Arboretum, 4915 Greenspring Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21209. There is limited on-site parking in the main lot adjacent to the Vollmer Center. The Cylburn Arboretum will be open to the public during the event, and arboretum guests will also be using these parking lots.

To accommodate the limited on-site parking capacity, there will be shuttle bus transportation to the Vollmer Center from street parking on Cylburn Avenue. Guests parking on Cylburn Avenue will be picked up at the service road entrance: please click here for a map displaying the Cylburn Avenue street parking and service road pick-up location, and use this Google Maps link for driving directions to the shuttle bus pick-up location at the service road entrance.

The shuttle bus service will be picking guests up from 8:00 – 9:30AM for the beginning of the event and bringing guests back to their cars from 1:00 – 2:00PM.

Please do not park on the main road leading to the Vollmer Center or in the roundabout; these are fire lanes and must be open for emergencies. 

 

Accessibility

This event is being held at the Vollmer Center at Cylburn Arboretum. The building is accessible from the street level with restrooms on the first floor and elevator access to the lower floor’s meeting/event space and restrooms. A paved patio at the rear of the Vollmer Center is also accessible. Accessible parking is available in the upper parking lot near the Vollmer Center.
