Venable Closes 2021 Grant Season with Another Strong Year of Giving

The Venable Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Venable LLP, is pleased to announce that it awarded a total of $3,605,000 throughout the 2021 grant season. Twelve percent of the grantee organizations were first-time awardees. The firm’s partnership is committed to impacting the community and, as such, attorneys and staff have engaged with 60% of the grantees as either volunteers, supporters, or board members.

The Foundation’s philanthropic investments continued to provide essential resources to nonprofit organizations and their clients during the COVID-19 pandemic. In November 2021, the Foundation awarded impact grants totaling $500,000 and benefiting nine organizations in the firm’s respective communities, including Baltimore, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Washington, DC. These organizations are providing enhanced services for school-aged youth that aim to bring students up to grade-level proficiency through intensive tutoring and family engagement.

The Venable Foundation is continually recognized for its positive impact on the communities in which Venable employees live and work. The Foundation once again was recognized as a platinum-level participant in D.C. Access to Justice's 2020 Raising the Bar Campaign. The platinum level is the campaign's top tier and honors firms that have administered financial support amounting to .11% of DC office revenue to local legal services providers.

The Venable Foundation was established in 1983 to support a wide variety of charitable, civic, and cultural endeavors and serve public interest law needs in our communities. In the past 12 years, the Venable Foundation has granted more than $32 million to worthy organizations that provide critical support to those in need. These include children's services and funding for disadvantaged families and individuals; homeless shelters and food programs; community organizations, hospitals, hospices, and local chapters of national health organizations; and educational, artistic, and cultural events and organizations. The Foundation is funded by the partners of Venable LLP.
