The State of School Food in Baltimore City, 2016 Edition

Tuesday, August 02, 2016, 12:00 - 1:30 PM

Maryland Philanthropy Network members are invited to a briefing by the Baltimore City Public Schools Food and Nutrition Services Team and Maryland’s farms to schools lead about the current state of food and nutrition in City Schools and efforts to transform into a system that delivers healthier, more nutritious and tasty food to its 85,000 students.

We’ll hear about the progress that has been made since our 2014 briefing on the Food and Nutrition Services Operational Assessment and issues still needing to be addressed.

Our speakers will be:

  • Elizabeth Marchetta, Food and Nutrition, Baltimore City Public Schools;
  • Erin Kennedy Hysom, Coordinator of Select Education Initiatives & Effectiveness, Office of School & Community Nutrition Programs, Maryland State Department of Education; and
  • Holly Freishtat, Baltimore City Food Policy Director, Office of Sustainability, Department of Planning.

This program is for Maryland Philanthropy Network members only; lunch will be served (of course!).
