Health Grantmaking Priorities: A Conversation with Secretary Josh Sharfstein and Mark Luckner

Thursday, May 26, 2011, 3:30 - 5:00 PM

Maryland Philanthropy Network members work to improve health outcomes for Marylanders through strategic investments in the context of a seven billion dollars annual state budget for public health. On May 26, welcome back Dr. Joshua M. Sharfstein, Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene, and meet Mark Luckner, Executive Director of the Maryland Community Health Resources Commission (CHRC) for a conversation on shared priorities between public and private grantmakers in health.

Mr. Luckner will explain the role of the CHRC, a quasi-independent grantmaking commission, in strengthening Maryland's network of safety net providers and in supporting innovation to expand health and dental care access, to reduce infant mortality, and to integrate behavioral health treatment services in the community.

For more information about the CHRC, including its grant history, please contact adonaldson@marylandphilanthropy.org or visit http://www.dhmh.state.md.us/mchrc/.

This meeting is for our members only.
