Recovery and Essential Workers Series: Direct Care and Community Health Workers

Community Health Workers, Home Health Aides, Personal Care Attendants, and Nursing Assistants are among the direct care workers on the front lines of the Pandemic. COVID-19 spotlighted both an incentive towards accelerating the delivery of care directly in communities and the inequities experienced by direct care and community health workers.  During this program, we will have a discussion with David Rodwin of the Public Justice Center and the Maryland Regional Direct Services Collaborative, Dr. Chidinma Ibe, of the Johns Hopkins Schools of Medicine and Public Health. We will learn from our speakers how we can support, advocate, and sustain community health workers and direct home care programs to meet the increasing need to change the delivery of healthcare from institution-based to the community.

Key Bridge Relief and Recovery Efforts

The Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed after being struck by the 984-foot-long cargo ship, the Dali, early in the morning on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. As we do during times of disaster, Maryland Philanthropy Network will serve as a clearinghouse for resources and information about relief and recovery efforts. Discussion of Baltimore Arts & Entertainment Districts - 2024

The Arts Funders Affinity Group invites all members interested in arts and community investment to this continuation of conversations held in October 2018, July 2019 and April 2020. Leaders of Baltimore City's four Arts and Entertainment Districts, Chad Hayes, Director of Community Planning and Revitalization at the Baltimore City Planning Department, and David D. Mitchell, Program Director for Arts and Entertainment Districts, Maryland State Arts Council will provide updates about each districts’ major projects, redesignation status, successes, and current challenges. In addition, we’ll learn about the City's coordination efforts and funding and discuss current issues, such as safety.
