The Wright Family Foundation to Transition Assets to The Robert W. Deutsch Foundation

The Wright Family Fund will continue to make grants to support educational opportunities for children and youth in Baltimore City and Austin, Texas

For more than two decades, the Baltimore-based Wright Family Foundation has focused its efforts on strengthening and expanding opportunities for children and youth in Baltimore City and Austin, Texas. Today, its trustees announce that by the end of this year, they will close the independent operations of the foundation and transfer the assets to the Robert W. Deutsch Foundation, which will manage what will be known as the Wright Family Fund.

“Having engaged with the Deutsch Foundation over 10 years, Lucy and I have created a strong partnership with Jane and her staff who will continue to support the communities we have served and keep our mission alive,” said Vernon Wright.

“We are honored that Lucy and Vernon have selected us to steward the assets they have contributed to improve the lives of children and youth in Baltimore and Austin,” said Jane Brown, President, and Executive Director of the Deutsch Foundation: “The work of their executive director, Mari Beth Moulton, has advanced the field of early childhood education in our city. Mari Beth’s transition to the Deutsch Foundation’s staff will ensure the continuity of this work and add her innovative leadership to our team.”

The Wright Family Foundation was founded in 2000 by Lucy and Vernon Wright to provide educational opportunities to children in Baltimore City. Once the transition is complete, the Wright Family Fund will continue to be led by Mari Beth C. Moulton, Executive Director in Baltimore, and Katherine Wright, Executive Director in Austin, Texas. The Robert W. Deutsch Foundation was founded in 1991 and invests in innovative people, projects and ideas that improve the quality of life in Baltimore and beyond.
