West x Northwest Baltimore Impact Grants

The Baltimore Community Foundation promotes the success of Baltimore’s communities, its residents and particularly its young people by supporting effective public schools and equipping neighborhoods with the resources they need to build on community assets, attract investment and develop social capital.

Building upon the place-based investments BCF has been making since 2019 in the school communities of Dorothy I. Height Elementary in Reservoir Hill/Penn North, Liberty Elementary in Forest Park, and Calvin Rodwell Elementary/Middle School in Howard Park, BCF seeks to increase investment in the ecosystem of Black-led nonprofits in our selected school communities and to expand to contiguous neighborhoods.

With recent funding received from Facebook, BCF has designed a grant program for nonprofits providing programs or services that directly support the resiliency of Black people and communities, with a preference for nonprofits that are Black-led and geographically located within the focus neighborhoods (see map for focus neighborhoods). These neighborhoods were chosen because they are either the original investment areas outlined in BCF’s strategic plan; they are adjacent to those neighborhoods; and/or they are located approximately one-half mile from the two main commercial corridors in the footprint (Liberty Heights Avenue and North Avenue).
