Wells Fargo provides $500,000 Grant for Baltimore Neighborhood Revitalization Plan

Wells Fargo is providing $500,000 grant to help Jubilee Baltimore implement the Central Baltimore Partnership's plan for revitalizing six city neighborhoods.

The Central Baltimore Partnership's "Front and Center Plan" aims to address issues related to youth and family, workforce development, community health and housing needs in parts of the city that are "still experiencing economic challenges." The six neighborhoods are Charles North, Greenmount West, Barclay, Old Goucher, Remington, Charles Village and Harwood.

The Wells Fargo Regional Foundation provided funding for the year-long development of the plan. The latest grant from the San Francisco-based bank will be disbursed over five years to help make the plan a reality. Wells Fargo (NYSE: WFC) is Greater Baltimore's fourth-biggest bank with $7.19 billion in local deposits as of June 2017, according to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.

Wells Fargo's grant will be used for:

  • Community center gap programming and equipment
  • Development of a strategy to pre-empt or treat chronic health conditions and preventable injuries
  • Expanded outreach, training stipends and barrier removal fund for workforce development programs focused on upward economic mobility
  • Legacy resident and senior housing upgrades, as well as aging-in-place home repair programs
  • Professional development and employment opportunities for youth
