Venable Foundation Awards $50,000 Emergency Grant to Assist Ukrainian Refugees

The Venable Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Venable LLP, is pleased to announce that it will provide a $50,000 emergency grant to World Central Kitchen (WCK), supporting WCK’s efforts to feed Ukrainians with 100,000 meals a day in five countries across Eastern Europe.

“Although the Venable Foundation usually concentrates its efforts on the communities in which the firm operates, we felt it was exceptionally important to provide this emergency support to WCK as they serve meals to hungry refugees across Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Moldova, and Hungary during this difficult time,” said Lindsay Meyer, president of the Foundation.

Founded in 2010 by José Andrés, a celebrity chef and restauranteur based in Washington, DC, WCK is first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises while working to build resilient food systems with locally led solutions. WCK has served more than 60 million fresh meals to people impacted by natural disasters and other crises around the world. WCK’s Resilience Programs strengthen food and nutrition security by training chefs and school cooks; advancing clean cooking practices; and awarding grants to farms, fisheries, and small food businesses while also providing educational and networking opportunities.
