Horizon Foundation Launches Health Equity Initiative
The Horizon Foundation is launching a new health equity initiative to address the barriers that some community members face when trying to achieve good health, overall wellness and opportunity. This is especially true for communities of color, which experience higher levels of chronic disease, deaths and disabilities. The Foundation seeks to reduce health disparities and work toward racial equity by advocating for policies and practices that break down health barriers and promise more equitable health outcomes, elevating leaders’ voices, and strengthening abilities and resources of community organizations to advance movements for social change.
As part of this initiative, the Foundation is offering two opportunities to get involved: an Introduction to Equity Workshop facilitated by partners from Maryland Philanthropy Network of Black Foundation Executives and a Racial Equity Summit that will highlight barriers and disparities facing community members. In addition, the Foundation will soon be releasing an RFP for those who have participated in these events and are looking to partner on this mission. The dates and times of the events are as follows:
