Getting smarter about place-based investing

Several Maryland Philanthropy Network (MPN) members were included in a roundup of local investing “tricks of the trade” based on a set of briefs from the Urban Institute and Mission Investors Exchange. Highlighted as a “coordinated ecosystem” in Baltimore, The Annie E. Casey Foundation worked with the Baltimore Community Foundation, Abell Foundation, Surdna Foundation, JP Morgan Chase, and PNC Bank on the Baltimore Small Business Support Fund. 
 
The Fund, a response to the lack of capacity for local entrepreneurs to receive investment, supports community development finance institutions and small-business technical assistance providers serving people of color in Baltimore.
