Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County Celebration of Philanthropy 2019

The Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County held their 19th Annual Celebration of Philanthropy Awards Luncheon Friday at the BWI Marriott in Linthicum.

Kent and Sue McNew were honored Friday afternoon as Philanthropists of the Year by the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County. This spring a new mental health hospital will open with the family’s name on it, at a time when behavioral health issues are on the rise in all age groups. Bronwyn Belling received the 2019 Volunteer of the Year Award. Chaney Enterprises Foundation won the 2019 Foundation of the Year Award and Annapolis Cars won the 2019 Corporate Philanthropist of the Year.

The Community Foundation has distributed more than $2.3 million in grants and scholarships so far in 2019. Guest speaker Sen. Chris Van Hollen praised the foundation, including its management of the Capital Gazette Families Fund following a mass shooting at The Capital’s offices in June of 2018.
