The Brightside: The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore
SALISBURY, Md. - Since 1984, the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore has been working to offer money and support for organizations across the Eastern Shore.
President, Erica Joseph, says it operates like a bank account.
"The easiest way to think about the Community Foundation is kind of like the community's charitable savings account."
CFES works with groups and individuals to help them create endowments that will ensure they will have a lasting legacy. One of the biggest campaigns CFES coordinates is called Giving Tuesday. It's an event 47 ABC is proud to sponsor again this year.
According to Joseph, it's aimed at making the process of donating fun and accessible.
"It's an annual event that we help coordinate. Sort of the core of our mission is to promote philanthropy and that's across all missions. It might be art."
Giving Tuesday takes place this year on November 27 and will provide people all over the country with an online marketplace allowing them to donate to non-profits on the Eastern Shore. Last year, they raised over $164,000 dollars for 80 groups in just 24 hours on Giving Tuesday.
