Strategies for Public/Private Partnerships

Strategies for Public/Private Partnerships

Friday, October 27, 2023, 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM

You asked, we’re listening. Our 2022 MPN Member Survey revealed interest in programs on public/private partnerships. Join us later this month for a special session to learn about best practices in public/private partnerships.

The Moore/Miller Administration has indicated a commitment to governing through partnership. Their new Maryland Council on Innovation & Impact will draw on philanthropic leaders to help guide public-private partnerships (PPPs). So, what are PPPs? How do they come together and how do they work?

In this 90-minute session, Kathleen Kelly Janus, Senior Advisor at Freedman Consulting, and former Senior Advisor on Social Innovation to California Governor Gavin Newsom, and lecturer at Stanford University, will use the first half of the session  to talk about public-private partnerships (PPPs): what they are, what form they can take, the process through which they are created, and best practices in creating and managing PPPs. Additionally, she will share a variety of examples of successful PPPs in California, insights from her personal experience in this role while in office, and recommendations on how these experiences can be adapted to other state settings.

The second half of the session will be dedicated to Q&A. This session is recommended for philanthropists and foundations who are interested in deepening their impact through public/private partnerships as well as those who are already engaged in this area. All members are welcome.

This meeting is for Maryland Philanthropy Network members and invited guests only.
