Baltimore Workforce Funders Collaborative - Update on BWFC/Civic Works Job Quality and Equity Work

Monday, April 20, 2020, 12:00 - 1:00 PM

Please join Maryland Philanthropy Network for a briefing on the good jobs strategies of the Baltimore Workforce Funders Collaborative (BWFC) and Civic Works.

The current crisis highlights the essential role that retail, restaurant and home maintenance workers play. And yet, the vast number of jobs in these sectors offer low pay, limited security, lack of benefits, and a host of other job quality challenges. In Baltimore, entry-level jobs in these sectors are disproportionately held be African-American and Latinx workers, while management jobs skew towards White males. As we respond to COVID-19 and plan for future economic recovery, what can we be doing to address these important issues?

This virtual meeting is open to all BWFC and Maryland Philanthropy Network members and invited guests.

The Baltimore Workforce Funders Collaborative (BWFC) is a group of private and public funders focused on advancing the labor market prospects of unemployed and underemployed residents while meeting the needs of our region's employers for a skilled workforce. We are committed to advancing equity, job quality and systems change efforts that lead to family-sustaining wages, strengthened communities and a vibrant local economy. The BWFC is hosted by the Maryland Philanthropy Network.
