Foundation Trustees have different levels of comfort and commitment to their foundation engaging in advocacy grantmaking, public leadership, and legislative advocacy. Policy work has the potential to greatly impact a foundation’s mission, but raises questions of legal and reputational risk. The Maryland Philanthropy Network Public Policy Committee invites both trustees and staff to a peer conversation on readying a foundation for policy work.

The Maryland Philanthropy Network Public Policy Committee will open its fall meeting to all interested association members for a briefing on the impact in Maryland from the federal spending cuts known as "Sequestration." Ben Orr from the Maryland Center on Economic Policy will present known facts and anticipated consequences to the Maryland state budget and nonprofit community. Adam Schneider from the Maryland Alliance for the Poor will detail the impact on services to low income Marylanders...
