Communities around the globe are currently responding to an outbreak of respiratory disease, known commonly as "COVID -19", which is caused by the virus “SARS-CoV-2”. As we do during times of disaster, Maryland Philanthropy Network will serve as a clearinghouse for resources and information about relief and recovery efforts to aid Maryland's philanthropies response. This page will be updated as new information is received, so please check it regularly.

Join us for a briefing designed to provide insight into the economic impacts of COVID-19 including employment trends and disparate effects across race and geography.
Over the last four months, organizations around the globe have surveyed foundations, nonprofits, civil society organizations, and individuals to learn how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting them.
The United Way of Washington County and the Community Foundation of Washington County have raised $300,000 to help the community get through the COVID-19 crisis, according to a news release from the agencies.
Please join the Health Funders for a dive into the problematic health disparities in COVID-19 cases among people of color and the social determinants that play into those disparities. This program will include a conversation about addressing social determinants, and the importance of health equity in response to COVID-19, ideas for responding to health disparities through philanthropy, and areas for shared learning.
On March 11th, the World Health Organization announced that the CoronaVirus, COVID-19, is a global pandemic. With this news it is easy and also legitimate for us to feel stress, concern, and even fear.
The COVID-19 pandemic has become an economic tsunami for Maryland’s thousands of nonprofits, striking at their financial resources even as the demand for their services has escalated.
The Fulton Forward Foundation recently donated $75,000 to the Washington County COVID-19 Emergency Assistance Fund. The fund is a campaign organized by the Community Foundation and United Way of Washington County.

THE CORONAVIRUS has thrown many of the ills of American society into sharp relief: slow decision-making, inequality and a safety-net full of holes. A superpower that should have been well prepared to fight the pandemic is floundering instead.
As some people face unemployment due to the coronavirus, the demand for nonprofit programs is increasing.
